The goals of this Master are to train competent and autonomous education professionals, for the exercise of pre-school education and primary school teaching, whose professional intervention is consistent with the exercise of a conscious and active citizenship; Ensure training procedures leading to the integration of knowledge and skills necessary for an intentional educational intervention on PSE and Primary school; Provide a solid background in scientific, social, cultural and ethical areas, regarding dimensions considered relevant to the overall harmonious development of the child and for the construction of meaningful basic knowledge; Develop an investigative and reflective approach, based on actual situations of educational practice, and making use of sustained research and references in current theoretical answers; Form for the respect and appreciation of diversity and heterogeneity and children’s needs, in support and liaison with families and other members of the educational community.

- Demonstrate an integrated set of skills that enable the autonomous realization of the teaching functions in the two levels of education.
- Acquire knowledge about children’s development and learning so that, in the educational interaction, teachers understand each child and provide the necessary autonomy to promote their development and learning.
- Develop planning and evaluation skills to enable continuous monitoring of pedagogical intervention and foster meaningful learning of children.
- Mobilize knowledge in the approach to situations related to the programs and guidelines of primary and pre-school education, and the learning goals of the two levels of education.
- Develop skills enabling the transition between levels of education (PSE-Primary, Primary-Secondary) and linkage between curriculum areas, taking ownership of knowledge and strategies that allow their implementation in educational practice and promoting effective participation of educational community.
